Since securing our first telecoms client in 1999, we have carried out work for numerous operators and other businesses in this field. Our current clients include the largest mobile operator in the world.
Specialist assignments in this field have included the following:
- International Programme Delivery - Niche provided critical Programme Management staff consultants for a leading international telecoms operator. Specific roles undertaken by Niche include the following: launch and co-ordination of a synergy programme bringing together the functions of two of the client's national operations in Scandinavia; implementation of programme methodology for corporate branding in a number of African operations, including initial investigation, resource and project planning, and preparation of appropriate programme documentation.
- Programme Recovery of a multi-million pound integrated billing upgrade suite for a leading telco, involving 3rd party hardware and software suppliers and, in-house development teams, embracing double digit application areas. Consultants provided by Niche: audited the programme; re-established governance and stakeholder ownership across multiple business segments (Revenue Assurance, Billing Assurance and Finance) and delivered SLA's substantially within the allocated programme budget.
- Provision of critical staff for a leading international telecoms operator. Specific roles undertaken by Niche staff included the head of the Business Analyst team, who also acted as the representative for Customer Services with all other departments. The team analysed all changes to technology and to systems that impacted on customer service, ensuring that all products and processes were delivered on time and fit for their stated purpose. Projects delivered varied widely, including billing automation (via Internet), new customer contact software, VAT compliance, regular system updates, SAP implementation, and the introduction of new credit checking procedures and software. For high value and business customers the team also improved support and introduced proactive Account Management for major corporate customers.
- Specialist billing analysts to working in close conjunction with a systems implementation consultancy, to provide a group of six specialist billing analysts to deliver a comprehensive set of Use Cases and detailed requirements documenting a billing system for a major mobile telecoms business. The requirements gathering process commenced with an off-site, three-day event with 120 business people, stakeholders and analysts. The work involved facilitating and running workshops covering a large number of Use Cases within their sub-systems, eliciting the steps in each Use Case and the detailed processes and requirements that underpinned them. Following a formal, approved documentation delivery and acceptance process the team wrote up each Use Case which they had covered and specified its associated requirements in detail.
- Headhunting and placing the Director of Finance for an international telecoms operator. The successful candidate required: extensive knowledge of both fixed and mobile telecommunications; proven experience in taking a company through rapid growth; work experience in an emerging marketplace such as Eastern Europe and proficiency in several languages.
- International Programme Direction: high-level scope of work providing a multilingual Programme Director for a global telecoms network operator to work an international environment in mainland Europe. The consultants provided by Niche were tasked with managing the VOIP migration into the legacy switched voice infrastructure for several large buildings and call centres. The project included integrating and replacing all the legacy systems and connected services that are used in the call centres.
