Programme and Project Management
Some projects are important to your business - others are nothing less than critical.
Since 1998 our consultants have consistently delivered critical projects on time and to budget. We work with a carefully developed network of programme and project managers, most of whom have already worked for us on past assignments. This allows us to assure our clients a consistent level of vetted quality. We will also identify a project or programme manager who fits the size of the task and, just as important, someone who matches the culture of your business.
You cannot judge a book by its cover, nor would you assess a project manager purely on his CV. Our vetting process ensures people with high calibre interpersonal skills and the professionalism to succeed in the toughest project management environments.
Here are some examples of assignments that have been successfully undertaken by our consultants:
- Delivery - Critical Programme Management resource for a leading international telecoms operator. Specific roles undertaken by consultants provided by Niche include the following: launch and co-ordination of a synergy programme bringing together the functions of two of the client's national operations in Scandinavia; implementation of programme methodology for corporate branding in a number of African operations, including initial investigation, resource and project planning and preparation of appropriate programme documentation.
- Rescue - Programme recovery of a multi-million pound integrated billing upgrade suite for a leading telecom operator, involving 3rd party hardware and software suppliers, in-house development teams, and embracing double digit application areas. Consultants provided by Niche audited the programme, re-established governance and stakeholder ownership across multiple business segments (Revenue Assurance, Billing Assurance and Finance) and delivered SLA's substantially within the allocated programme budget.
- Governance of Finance - Project Governance for a FTSE 100 business, delivering support to that company's project and demand managers ensuring day-to-day CAPEX matters were quickly and effectively dealt with. Specific roles undertaken by consultants provided by Niche include the following: providing detailed explanation of variances between finance actuals and rebased forecasts; calculation and preparation of manual accruals schedules when needed; participation in monthly PM financial review meetings to review past performance and forecast future CAPEX expenditure; assisting project managers to baseline/return to baseline forecasts and submissions to Finance; facilitating with introduction of new tracker tools, adherence to Sarbanes Oxley and other industry standards providing core information for preparation of Management Information and KPI's.
- Governance of Process - Niche assigned the resource to build a 'Centre of Excellence' in Programme, Project and Change Management capability for a Luxembourg-based financial business. The centre comprised the delivery of a proven, compliant Project Management methodology, a strategic development and delivery capability and Project Governance processes to support the brand. In addition, in order to ensure that the centre and its benefits were sustainable, internal staff were coached to anticipate and deal with further continual change. Additionally we introduced an executive sponsorship capability to support all developments to ensure the fit with the company's strategic vision.
- Innovation - Provided the E-commerce project/programme manager to drive E-commerce strategy for a leading retail/telecoms service provider. Took responsibility for the business analysis and programme management of the current E-commerce system upgrades as well as providing analysis for future E-commerce and content management initiatives for new delivery channels.
